Counseling in Difficult Times
At Sanford Behavioral Health, we offer counseling in a variety of formats for many types of emotional and behavioral struggles.
Your behavioral health team can provide counseling during times of stress, grief and loss.
What Does a Counselor Do?
Counselors, or therapists, are health care professionals who specialize in addressing behavioral health issues. Therapy is meant to help with behavioral, emotional or relationship struggles.
Speaking to a well-trained person offering understanding, compassion and perspective can go a long way towards helping you work through what’s been weighing on you.
Should I See a Therapist?
If you feel overwhelmed, there is no shame in reaching out for support. Asking for help from a professional is not a sign of weakness.
The American Psychological Association advises you reach out to a trained mental health professional if:
- You worry constantly
- You feel like you can’t handle things by yourself
- Your mental health is affecting your relationships, work, sleep patterns, or appetite
- You feel trapped or helpless
- Your normal ways of coping with stress or emotional distress are not helping
- You think about committing suicide or wishing to die
At Sanford Behavioral Health, we’ll help you with your emotional distress so you can get better health and well-being. Learn more about mental health.
