Verle Valentine, MD

Verle Valentine, MD, is an expert in athletic and activity injuries and has served as a team physician in many capacities including the WNBA, LPGA and the NBA. Dr. Valentine is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine.

Dr. Valentine specializes in the following:

• Musculoskeletal sports injuries
• Non-operative management of orthopedics conditions
• Sports injury prevention
• Young athlete injuries

Currently, Dr. Valentine is the team physician for the Sioux Falls Skyforce (an NBA G-League team), located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. He is a former assistant team physician for Michigan State University, the Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA), the Cleveland Rockers (WNBA) and the Cleveland Ballet, as well as various other colleges and sports organizations. He is also a team physician for Brandon Valley High School and Sioux Falls Christian High School.

Recently he served two terms on the board of directors for the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, chairing many committees. He currently serves as a commissioner for the South Dakota Athletic Commission, a member of the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee for the National Federation of State High School Associations and a member of the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee for the South Dakota High School Activities Association.

He is designated as a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. He is a Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD) with the International Society for Clinical Densitometry.
